PowMr PRO MPPT Solar Charge Controller - 80A or 100A, 12V to 48V

The PRO pair of PowMr's MPPT charge controllers: POW-M80-PRO at 80 A and POW-M100-PRO at 100 A. Both take an array of up to 160 V open circuit down to a 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V battery bank, and both carry a temperature-compensation probe port and RS485.

A charge controller puts solar energy into a battery bank. It does not produce AC. Match the amperage to your array on our What Size Do I Need? page before you order.

What it does

• It is a real MPPT, and the box lets you verify it. The input takes up to 160 V open circuit and converts it down to bank voltage; a PWM controller can only tie the array to the battery and cannot do that at all. Then use the scale. PowMr states 4.4 lb net for the 80 A and 6.0 lb for the 100 A, and the parcel weighs 8.8 lb. A PWM board with an MPPT sticker on it weighs a pound or two, because it has neither the inductor nor the heat sink.
• One controller, four bank voltages. 12 V, 24 V, 36 V and 48 V, picked up automatically.
• Compensates for battery temperature. -3 mV per degree C per 2 V by default, with a probe port on the case for the reading.
• RS485 on board for monitoring and for the parallel link.
• Up to 12 units in parallel. Same bank, one array each, master and slaves defined from the master unit.
• Bolt terminals and a finned heat sink rather than the clamp connectors of the standard range.

Before you order

• This is not an inverter. It charges a bank from solar. AC needs a separate inverter.
• Your bank must be 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V and must sit inside 9-60 V.
• Array open-circuit voltage must stay under 160 V on the coldest morning of the year. Panel Voc rises as temperature falls. Size the string for that, not for the 25 C datasheet figure.
• Breakers or fuses on both sides, array to controller and controller to bank. Neither is included.
• Check the max PV power line for your bank voltage. An 80 A PRO on a 12 V bank tops out at 960 W of array, the same unit on 48 V takes 3840 W. The sizing guide runs through the choice.
• IP32. Indoors, in a shed, or under cover. Not a rated outdoor enclosure.
