Details
An MPPT solar charge controller that takes a high-voltage array down to a 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V battery bank. Three charge currents: 60 A, 80 A or 100 A. Maximum array open-circuit voltage is 160 VDC on all three.
This is a charge controller. It puts solar energy into a battery bank. It does not make AC and it will not run a household load on its own. Pick the amperage against your array on our What Size Do I Need? page.

What it does
- It is a real MPPT, and you can check that yourself. The input accepts up to 160 VDC and steps it down to a 12 V bank. A PWM controller cannot do that; it can only connect the array to the battery at battery voltage. The second check is the scale: this one ships at 7.1 lb, because an MPPT needs an inductor and a heat sink. Weigh it when it lands.
- One controller, four bank voltages. 12 V, 24 V, 36 V and 48 V, picked up automatically at connection.
- Lithium and lead-acid. Charging parameters change with the battery type you select. On lithium, the controller will wake a pack sitting in protection using array energy, within the pack's own voltage and current limits.
- Adaptive boost. The controller watches how the bank responds and sets the length of the boost stage for that cycle instead of running a fixed timer.
- It grows. Up to 12 units in parallel on the same bank, each with its own array, one designated master.
- Temperature compensation with a probe. An external probe port is on the unit for accurate battery temperature.
What's in the box
- PowMr MPPT charge controller in the amperage you selected
- PowMr does not publish a box-contents list for this model, and does not specify any cable gauge. We are not going to state one. Plan on supplying your own PV cable, battery cable, breakers and the external temperature probe.
Before you order
- This is not an inverter. It charges a battery bank from solar. Running 120 V loads needs a separate inverter.
- Your bank must be 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V and must sit inside 9-60 V.
- Array open-circuit voltage must stay under 160 VDC, cold mornings included. Panel Voc climbs as temperature drops. Size the string with margin, not to the datasheet number at 25 C.
- Breakers or fuses on both sides. One between array and controller, one between controller and bank. Neither is included.
- Match the amperage to the array, not to the panels you might buy later. The maximum PV power table above is per bank voltage. The sizing guide walks through it.
- IP32. Mount it indoors, in a shed or under cover. It is not a rated outdoor enclosure.
